Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese therapy, which treats deep into the muscles, joints and energy of the body.
Shiatsu is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, drawing upon 1000’s of years of ancient wisdom of observing the human body as interconnected to all of life. It is not about fixing symptoms but instead addresses the underlying causes of disease. Allowing the infinite wisdom of our body to heal itself, allowing us to come back to wholeness.
It uses the Chinese energy meridian system and works with specific acupressure points and the body’s energetic pathways. Shiatsu is more than just a massage, it a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal and balance itself. It works on the whole person not just as a physical body, but also as a psychological, emotional and spiritual being. Shiatsu uses a combination of pressure points, gentle manipulation and stretching to re-energise weak areas and reduce tension in the body. It helps to reduce pain and stiffness whilst balancing the nervous, circulatory and respiratory systems.
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular treatments can help with a wide range of conditions helping to alleviate stress and illness and helping you to be the best you can be!
Treatments vary between individuals depending on the person’s unique energetic balance and needs. Some sessions may be very physical and invigorating while others may be tranquil and deeply relaxing. After a shiatsu treatment you may feel calm, balanced, relaxed and energised ready to face the world.
Emma’s shiatsu is truly amazing. I can always feel the deep relaxation, the sensation of being able to let go and just be. Her touch is compassionate and understanding, generous and peaceful, time and place loose their relevance. Apart from her excellent skills of dealing with imbalances of the body-mind and by inviting transformation to take place, her treatments always make me feel coming home to myself and at the same time being open to the interconnectedness of all beings. Thank you, Emma! – Marina
What to expect:
Shiatsu is applied through clothes on a futon mat on the floor. It is best to wear loose warm clothing and comfortable trousers. Sessions normally last for an hour.
It is important to avoid eating a heavy meal before the session and is a good idea to avoid strenuous or stressful activities immediately after.
Shiatsu has a cumulative effect so a short course of treatments, spaced out according to your needs, offers the maximum benefit.
Shiatsu £60 / 1 hour
Bundle of four sessions £220
Regular Qigong Students discount rate £50 / session
I also have some spaces at a lower cost so if affordability is a barrier I would be happy to discuss this with you.

Emma, thank you really doesn’t feel enough, for your amazing Shiatsu and skill at holding a healing space for me to be able to safely ‘let go’ and consequently allow for transformation. You held such a loving yet neutral space, where I didn’t feel at all pressured to be anything but I knew you were totally there for me.
I believe this ability is actually quite rare and allowed for genuine healing to take place.
The tension that had been in my body for months, let go and then I also found that I had made a poignant decision which I had been painfully procrastinating over for months….and I didn’t even try, I just knew what was right! What an utter relief, both physically and mentally/emotionally.
There is something different about your work, that gives a real ‘soul’ type nourishment as well as the other benefits I mentioned. It seems that you have a very good balance and skill in mixing highly trained knowledgeable practice with high sensitivity and intuition to really offer what an individual needs.
To anyone thinking about it, please read them this!….Think no more, just go! Let go, relax, breathe and trust Emma to do what she does, you really are an amazing gift. “
